Crypto.com Acknowledges Hacking of 400 Accounts

Synopsis

“Crypto.com CEO says that all the compromised accounts were reimbursed.”

Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com, a Singapore-based exchange, has confirmed that around 400 customer accounts were hacked, as several layers of the firm’s security were breached.

After a report from users of some unauthorized activity, withdrawals from the accounts were suspended by Crypto.com. The users were asked to re-sign into their accounts and reset their two-factor authentication.

Marszalek said that “once the breaches were detected, all the withdrawals were frozen immediately. It took about 13 to 14 hours to fix the issue and be back online again. All the accounts that were compromised were reimbursed so that customers don’t face any losses”.

Marszalek further highlighted that “in comparison to the scale of the business, these numbers are not particularly material and there was no risk to the customers.
